Who knows if you'll ever find me in the ocean again. :o) Apparently sharks don't mind the shallow water, and oh yah, they may also be drawn to the color yellow. That's just great to hear since I own yellow fins. Don't swim during dawn or dusk, and try to make smooth movements when you swim, although it doesn't matter because they will get you anyway! If they do get you, Landon says to poke them in the eye. That was very helpful advice from him as he chased me around the house with his hands on his head in the shape of a fin.
Funny thing, I've actually seen a shark. I got certified for scuba diving before a trip to Hawaii. We were on the boat going to another dive site when the crew saw Pilot whales. We drove over by them and we all got in the water (just with our snorkels) to see them. They warned us that Pilot whales are often followed by Oceanic White Tip sharks, but we jumped in anyway along with some of the crew after seeing their excitement. As I put my head under water, I saw the whales below us and then looked up close to the surface and saw a shark. At first I didn't even realize it was a shark, otherwise I think I would've been heading back to the boat, but no, I just sat there staring at it. It must've been nice like the ones in my dream because it didn't care about us, or maybe it just wasn't hungry. The guy in the picture was one of the dive guides and another helper took this picture with his sweet underwater camera and was nice enough to e-mail it to all of us. According to Wikipedia, the Oceanic White Tip has attacked more humans than all other species combined. GREAT! Anyway, I know this was long, but just had to share my excitement and terror of shark week!! DUH NUH, NUH NUH!!!

LOL - Holly this cracked me up - you are so funny! Shark week is pretty 'catchy', huh? (haha, get it?!)Hopefully the next time I get in the ocean you will be there to save me in case I get attacked by a shark. ;-)
WOW! I think I could have walked on water had I seen that swimming near me! LOL. That is funny about your shark week obsession... I love it too although I didn't watch it this year. Adam and I actually paid good money to swim with sharks a couple years a go... that is not something I will be doing ever again, supposedly the sharks were "tame" ones... I think they just said that to get me off my kayak! :)
